Barbering academy auditions

Wednesday 5 November 2014

Bedford College and entrepreneur Zak Resinato are teaming up to make the most of the growing fashion of modern barbering.

Zak is leading the way in business with barber kiosks soon to be opening across the UK, and Bedford College is supporting his need for trained staff.

Together they are launching a full-time barbering course on November 5th.  Would-be barbers are invited to join the Bedford College Open Day on November 4th.

Trainees, aged from 16 upwards, will be based at Bedford College’s High Street training salon BROOKS, but will undertake weekly work experience at Jagged Edge venues in Bedford High Street, Sandy, Clapham and the Interchange Retail Park at Kempston.

“The only thing holding our business back from going nationwide is a lack of staff trained the Jagged Edge way,” said Zak, who at 27 has won young entrepreneur prizes and is now a finalist in the East of England Business Awards.

“I was a trainee with Bedford College and have worked closely with them over the years. They understand what businesses need to grow and employ more staff.”

Assistant Director of Hair and Beauty Kerry Attfield said: “It is great to be working with such a go-ahead employer as Zak – we have plans for expanding this scheme with him next year.”

Students will complete Maths and English qualifications through the college, if they do not already have them.  They will complete the course with a nationally recognized qualification and an extra special certificate from the Jagged Edge Academy.
